This is going to be a very graphic story. I want to dive into the war, choices we make, & how they affect someone's psychology/their sense of self. There will be angst. There will be smut. There will probably be tears. I’ve had MANY people ask if this is going to be HEA. I haven't decided on an ending yet so I can't promise it will be HEA (altho I am leaning toward a realistic ever after). HEA is subjective & means different things to different people, so I have settled on these HEA tags for now. I’ll update tags accordingly as we go if it changes. It feels lame in his mouth and so he stops himself there, even though this does not convey nearly the amount of information it needs to. This is backed up when Akechi just stares at him blankly.
“… Which is not Detective Prince money,” He continues, “But… might buy something better than a… questionably clean hotel.”
Akechi snarls a laugh. “I don’t need your handouts.”

Akechi blinks at him, then plants his face in his hands. “Oh dear God no.”
Ren looks up in time to see Akechi outside the train window before he departs from Tokyo. After missing his train to catch up with him, and with Akechi having nowhere to go in light of his miraculous resurrection, it's only logical and ergonomic they share a hotel room for a night. Or two.

Which probably doesn’t make much sense in reality- but he doesn’t know much about how plants work so it makes sense to him.He wonders if plants ever hinder their own growth clinging to decaying roots that could easily be replaced with new ones- new ones that would sustain them instead if they just allowed it.
He wonders if they let themselves rot so they don’t have to change- so that they don’t have to say goodbye to the only thing they’ve ever known.Sometimes he wishes he were a plant.
Plants probably don’t have to think about their roots and which ones are necessary for growth.
They grow or they wither without having to contemplate how.Megumi thinks he might envy them.
