Elrond and Celebrían are finally reunited in Valinor, but they are still haunted by their past, and by the awareness that they had lost Arwen forever. In an attempt to take control of her life again, Celebrían makes Elrond a proposal.
And so, the bliss of their long-awaited encounter had soon faded into a monotonous, quiet coexistence, where they tried to give sense to their shared mourning. Of their daughter, first and foremost, but also of what had once forced her to flee from the shores of the Middle-earth, leaving behind all the ones she loved. For even after all those long centuries, for all the skills of the Valar and the soothing, lulling peace of Aman, a cruel seed of illness still laid deep within her, a clump of ice between her ribs, that never fully went away, forgotten in her happiest moments, but still lying under, ready to resurface.

The geese don’t settle here, haven’t for years, and it’s of little interest to the local shorebirds of Sirion where they do spend their summers or when or why. So she asks the sandpiper a few polite questions about the dead shark and wishes it and its flock good weather and few storms in the months to come, and it bobs its head again and wishes her a warm spring for her young once the winter has passed.

A bright day dawned over fair white Gondolin to the shrill dismayed screams of Glorfindel of the House of the Golden Flower. For he had awoken that morn to a most horrific sight in the mirror: his long and luscious Laurelin kissed locks were cruelly shorn off his now bald head while he had been sleeping.
In a great fury Glorfindel ran through the halls of the King's palace, and laying eyes upon his dark target skulking in the darkened corners, he accosted the elf in sight of the royal family.
"What have you done to my hair, villain?! My beautiful golden blonde hair!"
------Maeglin has to create a compensation for Glorfindel's lost hair (which he totally didn't cut off himself) and is charged with making him a full head of hair made of pure gold. However, Sauron takes note of an elf leaving Gondolin to visit some dwarven smiths, and disguising himself challenges Maeglin to a wager of who is the better craftsman. Who shall come out victorious in this battle of magic and skill?

Maedhros Feanorion does not die when he throws himself into a fiery chasm after being burned by the silmaril. Eonwe, who had quietly followed Maedhros and Maglor alone out of a last bit of pity, saves Maedhros at the last moment and brings him back to Valinor.
Given a mercy he does not feel he deserves and at the very end of his tether, Maedhros goes to a high tower along the shore to offer his fealty and servitude to Lady Elwing in atonement for the sackings of Doriath and the Havens and the kidnapping of her sons. He expects wrath and cold fury from the last princess of Doriath, and he believes he deserves nothing less.
Instead, he finds a young, orphaned peredhel, keening with grief for her lost children, parents, and brothers; her similarly young, presumed-to-be-orphaned husband, desperately trying to catch a glimpse of his sons or his lost parents as he sails the skies; and a cold, lonely tower.
I.e. In which Maedhros Feanorion, kidnapper and foster parent extraordinaire, ends up adopting Elrond and Elros’s parents, too.
