The bright overhead light reflects off the white tile floor and blares into his weary eyes. He’s hungry, and thirsty, and his muscles ache. Hannibal can’t find a comfortable position on the squeaky chair so he stands up and walks in circles around the hall. When he passes the vending machine for the third time, he gives up and buys a can of soda, the thought of another subpar coffee makes his stomach turn. The sugary drink is refreshing only for a minute, then he feels a slight tremor run down his body, his head spins and he lowers himself in the chair again, leans his head on the wall and closes his eyes.

With any luck, Will Graham's assignment to the frontier town of Quantico would be his last. His career tracking down outlaws was flourishing, but travel was exhausting, and he was ready to put down roots. Quantico seemed the perfect town to settle down in, or it would be as soon as he discovered what had happened to the hotel guests who had mysteriously vanished.
Even more appealing than the town itself was the handsome owner of the local saloon, Hannibal Lecter, whose striking eyes and dark grin Will couldn't stop thinking about.
However, solving the mystery proved more challenging than anticipated, and Will's plan to build a home was delayed. When Hannibal offered Will a place to stay, it seemed a natural offshoot of their growing friendship, but as the line between friendship and romance faded, Will realized that although the criminal case would end like all the others. It was the afterward that would be different.
