Summary
Mira is a cop who never expected to become a mother, but everything changes the night she saves Parker, a quiet girl living under her father’s abuse. After taking her in, Eventually they end up moving. New job, new school, new beginning.
For Parker, it’s her first time back in school in two years. She meets Zoey, a girl with space buns, a turtle obsession, and way too much energy. The two form an unexpected bond, while Parker also somehow manages to get into a rivalry with one of the teachers.
That teacher is Rumi, a former teen mom turned high school teacher at a new school. Outside of school, she meets a hot cop at a bar, and the two start a secret relationship neither of them meant to fall into.
Meanwhile, Zoey who’s never really felt like she belonged anywhere gets stuck showing the new kid around school. She doesn’t mind, though. The more time they spend together, the harder it becomes to pretend it’s just friendship.
Neither pair knows they’re tangled in the same story.

To her side was a taller woman, a purple braid in and a few hairclips.she was a bit taller, maybe 5’7? And she was gorgeous, wait- when did she start staring?
“Uhh.. Hi?” The purple haired girl waved. God, she felt so stupid.

when sleep deprivation caused by nightmares, never ending thoughts and a headache that doesn't seem like leaving cause zoey to get hurt during a failed solo hunt that her friends were never alerted too, she decides to hide her injury to keep the failed sealing quiet.
from that point on, everything she says and everything she does makes the situation worse, a missed guest appearance, a below par concert performance, fans turning on her, being on the brink of suspension, everything that can go wrong, does.
when mira and rumi become suspicious about recent events, zoey begins to shut them down, insisting there was nothing to worry about. but when they cancel their upcoming show for zoey's well-being, she explodes with anger, and arguments over anything and everything start to become a daily occurrence, each one bigger than the last, causing them to drift apart.
with their relationship broken, zoey stands alone, everything seems different now, maybe this time she could reach the fire in her dreams.

Falling unconscious in the dressing room, as she had been in a rush to get ready for the fan meet and greet. She remembered her friends screams of horror when they saw her laying there on the floor covered in blood. She remembered Mira holding her while she bled begging her to stay awake, pleading with her not to leave them. Then there had been silence and nothing but the darkness surrounding her.
