Violet, Klaus, and Millie Baudelaire have, once again, narrowly cheated death. But their survival only leaves them stranded somewhere near the peaks of the Mortmain Mountains, with their little sister Sunny in the grasp of Count Olaf. In attempting to rescue her, they cross paths with someone new yet strongly reminiscent of their past, and who opens the door for other ghosts.

From the peak of Mount Fraught to the depths of the ocean, from a bustling hotel in the heart of the city to a remote tropical island forgotten by the world, the Baudelaires are pursuing the same answers while being pursued by the same villain. But, in the disheartening conclusion to this depressing trilogy, the dreary chase might cease at last.

    After all, it’s the end.

    Summary

After their parents perish in a terrible fire (which means were killed), the Quagmire triplets are sent to live with the deplorable Count Olaf, who will stop at nothing to make their lives a misery and steal their sapphire fortune. Meanwhile, Klaus Baudelaire struggles to accept the death of his parents and older sister, while also having to raise his infant sister Sunny and deal with living in a miserable school.

It will be the start of a very long, very depressing and very difficult journey for these young children, and I suggest you look away. I wish I could.

    !!!IMPORTANT PSA!!!
For enrichment of the author purposes, this doesn't directly follow either book or tv canon, but some Frankenstein of the two. A lot (not all) of the major plot points and characters will be from the tv show, but a lot of setting and timeline details will be from the books. Basically I just picked and chose my favourites from each. To my knowledge, though, everything makes sense. Feel free to ask if it doesn't, though !!

    Summary

The Baudelaire children were very unfortunate indeed. You may think that, given there were twelve of them, they would figure out solutions to their problems rather quickly. However, it so happened that when the siblings put their heads together it usually resulted in various items of furniture being hurled, mediocre cooking, attempted murder (only occasionally directed at each other), and many *many* pranks.

Or: ASOUE but there are 12 Baudelaire kids! (Netflix Baudelaires are Violet, Klaus and Sunny. Movie Baudelaires [originally created by midas_touch_of_angst] are Lilac, Nick and Solitude. Book Baudelaires are Veronica, Klyde and Susie. The Baudelaires' character foils from 'The Luckiest Kids in the World' are Laurie, Larry and Linda.)

    Summary

Mildred Clementine Mortimer was not a Baudelaire in name or blood, but she was in the ways that actually mattered. She had been raised alongside the children since she was a baby due to their families being close. Her parents had left her in the Baudelaire's custody when she merely was 9 months old and they promptly disappeared and were presumed dead. When the Baudelaire's died she was to be moved with their children as their sister in all legal circumstances, after all she WAS their daughter. This left her in several unfortunate circumstances, but the Baudelaires were her family and she wasn't about to leave them.

    Summary

Life was relatively normal for you, as normal as it can be for any normal teenage girl that was orphaned under mysterious circumstances at a young age and sent to the austere academy that was Prufrock Preparatory School. Or at least, it was normal until the Baudelaire orphans came along and brought count Olaf with them, the guy who made his way into your life worse than the Spanish conquistadors.

Where will your unsavory encounter lead to? Will it be more misery, or maybe redemption? And if so, for who?

    Summary

Sartre once said, “Man is condemned to be free; because once thrown into the world, he is responsible for everything he does.”

The air is still, suspended in that rare moment of perfect tension, where everything becomes weightless, yet carries the weight of everything. I have always understood that there is more to this moment than what is seen, to each breath, each thought, each action.

This is what Sartre meant, I think - freedom is not just the absence of restraint, but the acknowledgment that each choice, no matter how seemingly small, is a declaration. The weight of the world, of this moment, is on my shoulders alone. I am condemned to this freedom. I could hold the arrow here, forever, and the world would continue in its unfathomable dance, circling around the singularity of this moment, but I cannot.

The shot must be made. The tension between the past and the future collapses into the present. The arrow hits its mark - dead center.

As I scan the cheering crowd, there’s a gnawing absence where there should be something solid, something I’ve always relied on. My parents aren't here. Not even the device that so often rests in my mother’s hands, glinting with strange symbols as she watches me.

    Summary

In an Alternate Universe where Beatrice didn't shoot Olaf's dad with a poisonous dart (just a regular one, he was fine) but still made off with Esme's sugar bowl. One weekend the Baudelaire parents are called off to a Top Secret VFD mission and leave the kids with their distant cousin, Olaf, who IS still mad about the dart incident, has no chemistry with children, is still a horrid actor, and lives in a dump. Violet, Klaus and Sunny, who are not traumatized by the recent deaths of their parents, are free to torment their temporary guardian. Olaf cannot wait until Monday, when their parents are supposed to return.
But they didn't return, and they didn't leave a way to contact them. Still on the right side of the VFD, Olaf has to help the kids find their parents. Shenanigans and an accidental marriage will test Olaf's sanity.

    Summary

Violet gulped. She looked to the side, hoping that breaking eye contact with him would trick her mind into thinking he wasn’t quite so close. It didn’t work, because she still felt like throwing up and murdering him, (not necessarily in that order.)

But… She was the parent now, whether she liked it or not. It was her job to keep her siblings safe, even at her own expense. And, honestly, she was glad to do it. She loved Klaus and she loved Sunny, and she would do anything to keep them from getting hurt.

“If…” she started slowly, keeping her gaze on anything but Olaf. She briefly caught a glimpse of Klaus, who kept glancing from her to Sunny, tears in his eyes. He was scared. She didn’t want him to be scared. “If you let Sunny go,” she continued, “then I will marry you.” She finally looked back at Olaf. “But only if you promise you will not hurt her.”
