How do I summarise this? Methos gets a Quickening that makes him in layman's terms insane. He is having a good time. Mac is not having a good time because he overthinks himself into a near panic. Kronos haunts the narrative like the evil ghost he is despite appearing in one sentence.
This was meant to be a cheesy, pun intended, joke that somehow spiralled out of control and grew into a full plate of heavy angst with a smidge of horror that would make the King of the genre himself unsettled. Maybe, anyway.- Language:

The Game, like most games, can be hacked, and in a way that doesn’t feature hacking off heads. Come the Gathering, Methos saves his head with the power of Star Wars quotes and gay marriage. From a certain point of view, anyway. If you ask him and Mac, well, they are definitely husbands now.
Or, Death knows one cannot fight or run from the inevitable, so he decides to use exact words to convince it it has already happened.
Featuring enough crack to drug a nation, enough fluff to make a thirty-foot teddy bear and enough angst, drama, trauma, and kinda-sorta horror to make the crack and fluff truly shine.
Rating may be too high but who knows, I don't.
Title from Alestorm, which is might indicate how serious the premise is, though it's definitely played very seriously. -

Title from Iron Maiden song 'Out Of The Shadows', it just fit. It might be ridiculously on the nose considering what actually happens in the fic, but you will find it out when you read it, no sooner.
The suicidal thoughts may be overtagged, but the poor guy actually does try to talk Mac into taking his head, although that's because that's what he thinks Mac wants. -

Mac is the last Immortal left, the sole survivor of the Gathering. Not the winner, because that would imply having won anything, rather than lost everything, possibly including his sanity, and definitely including the man he still loves and thought a monster until too late.
This is a mix of tragedy and horror, with the love thrown in purely for the tragedy.
Rated for the psychological horror aspect of it and the threat to Mac's sanity, there isn't really even that much onscreen violence, let alone a single word of smut. -
