Wangxianficrecs post here. (Archived.)A fully satisfying time travel fix-it, aaahhhhhh. In which wangxian are sent back to the beginning (a little earlier, actually) by a goddess as thanks, and this time around, they get to FIX SHIT. It's fun to see how these mentally fully mature and experienced adults interact with their 'peers' and 'elders'. Wwx still has PTSD, and it occasionally rears its head, but lwj always steps in to make things better. They tell their immediate families about being from the future, but never anyone else. This information assists in them healing damaged family relationships that had never before been addressed. (Lwj's dad comes out of seclusion; jc isn't as insecure b/c he doesn't feel like he needs to compete with someone who's ACTUALLY FORTY; madam yu recognizes that wwx is a dedicated and loving member of their family.)
Lwj and wwx are so completely in love and supportive of one another, it's lovely to witness. (Unless you're jiang cheng, who would like to witness less of it, thank you very much.) Lwj keeps the resentful energy and flashbacks in check when wwx has to use it, and supports his husband in developing his own style of blended cultivation. They are living their best life and taking full advantage of this incredible opportunity.

Namjoon’s eyes were large, sincere – but sympathetic too. “In that case… I need you to know that I don’t care anymore. Okay? I don’t care about all the things we’ve been angry about for years. I don’t care about the arguments about jobs, parents, other fuck-ups… We have so many fuck-ups. We could build a shrine to them at this point, alright? But I don’t care because I’ve forgiven us. You and me both. I’ve forgiven us.” Namjoon took in a deep breath. “But if you haven’t forgiven me? In the wake of Akira’s arrest, Munehisa (P5 Gunckle) starts making visits to Leblanc in hopes of getting an update on the situation. Though clocking him as a Yak immediately, Sojiro hears him out and they being connecting over their concern for Akira and the experience of single-parenting teenagers. They start a routine, meeting up twice a week to have dinner together and explore the town, texting on the days in between. Akira is released and returns home. As the new school year starts, Sojiro and Munehisa spend their nights deep-diving in Shujin-related school prep and financials for their kids, never running out of things to talk about while also dodging conversational land mines about their pasts.
The two men exchange Valentine’s and White Day chocolates, though Sojiro thinks nothing of it. With Munehisa’s encouragement and help, Sojiro works on his cigarette addiction, crawling his way down to a pack a week, a single cig a day, and then one every few days. Around this time, when out drinking together, Sojiro tells Munehisa that his rough past is in the past and only matters if Futaba gets hurt (Both men have made it clear that their child comes first anyways). Munehisa’s heart almost shatters out of gratitude and want, so he distances himself from Sojiro to get a grip on his feelings.
Sojiro, confused as to the cause of the distance (but still respecting it), realizes his own romantic and sexual feelings for his friend. At Sojiro’s goading, they reconnect and hang out as usual, until Sojiro and Munehisa talk honestly as adults one night, resulting in a new kind of relationship between them.
Sequel: Asking the Question
In the sequel, Sojiro and Munehisa have been dating for months, though the nature of their jobs and children mean the alone time they are able to have together is very limited. They’ve worked together to find a good flow of give-and-take in their sexual encounters, but Sojiro—wanting Munehisa to be a permanent part of his life but needing to make sure they actually fit well in a permanent living situation—wants to have penetrative sex. Munehisa, fully gone on Sojiro as he is, vehemently agrees.
Figuring out logistics is a nightmare for the two parents, and, when they finally cave and decide to use Leblanc’s attic (Sojiro is too much of a nostalgic romantic to want to use a love hotel or a gang safehouse), Futaba freaks out and makes sure the house is clear all weekend. That Friday night, Munehisa’s deliveries run late, delaying their evening and painfully straining his shoulder. Sojiro realizes that his feelings about Munehisa coexisting in his house are the feelings of ‘this is right, this is what should be, you belong here’ and absent-mindedly confesses love while they watch one of Munehisa’s terrible films. Munehisa is taken away, overflowing with feeling and joyful disbelief. They don’t have sex that night, but they drift off more settled and at peace than either of them have been in years, hopeful to make a future together happen.
