Summary
After countless years at war, humanity has left Earth far behind, clinging to a hard existence among the stars. Life has begun to flourish anew on the distant planet of Acheron, but rising tensions threaten to undo all of the progress made thus far. All the while, a twenty-six year-old mech pilot named Alimira is just trying to get by, only partially aware that the ground has started shifting all around her...
This work takes place within the "As Embers Turn to Dust" setting created by the band Mechina, set on the planet of Acheron between the events of "Progenitor" and "As Embers Turn to Dust" (album). The focus will be on original characters and is written as a sort of "slice of life" narrative, so even if you're completely unfamiliar or only have passing familiarity with the setting, it should remain enjoyable to fans of sci-fi and mechsploitation. This is quite a stark departure from my typical work, but I hope you enjoy regardless. :)

The only things that can fight the Formics and neutralize the reversed threat are pyrethroids---but no one calls them that. They are mechs. A degraded pilot cannot pilot a mech anymore, and no one truly wants to go to serve cured from death in the Gestalt for the rest of this world's lifespan.
