Owen sat at a table carved by his own hands, hands that sat clenched in his lap, the scars that traced his skin stretching and pulling with each flex of his fingers. Scott was sitting at the head of the table while Shelby peppered him with questions about vampirism, scribbling occasionally in a small notepad that seemed to be one of the few possessions she had brought back from town – each note accompanied a small ‘oh!’ of surprise as she stared at her previous notes, before sticking out her tongue and scribbling a new one. She occasionally tore out a page, even, letting it catch the air and float back down to the table in what was ending up as less of a pile and more a collection of loose paper strewn about over the table.
Owen’s fingers twitched in his lap. She had torn out 13 pages so far. -

New York City, New York, 2006. Cloudier than Okahurst had been, muggier than the Loch on a bad day, and more crowded than a Wal-Mart on Black Friday. He didn't meet the eyes of a stranger he was meant to fall in love with across a room. No. Instead, he locked eyes with a *very* familiar man he hadn't seen in centuries.
But, credit where credit is due. The song said "crowded" and the streets of New York were that and more.

Kyran (oc) is called to Oakhurst after hearing about the 200 year old curse that comes around. Kyran is turned into a vampire by a rouge vampire. (one who mayhaps is sired by Scott (I do not like V!Scott for many reason).
Kyran shows up at Oakhurst one day before the 200 year curse looms over the town once again. While there Kyran starts to see and hear the vengeful ghost of a vampire who goes by the name Pyro. Pyro's ghost tells Kyran about all that happened years prior and what lead him to be left in the sorry state he is in when Kyran arrives.

Scott hears Avid before he sees him. Deep unnecessary breaths greet his ears. They're frantic and inconsistent. There’s sometimes quick short breaths and other times long pauses in between them. It's unnatural and inhuman.
When Scott finally lays his eyes on Avid, he can see the fledgling is wrecked.
There are tears staining his cheeks that won't stop flowing. His eyes are red from crying, and his voice is broken.
Someone hurt this poor boy. Who would ever do something to him? What did they do to leave him like this? Who does he need to kill?

Avid hated looking at the scar upon his skin.
It ran along his neck and shoulders, festering with blood and infection, the edges jagged and uneven: clearly meant to be a quick, fatal blow with horrifying sharp claws- the insides pulsed with moving shoulder muscle underneath- visible in all of its agony, slowly leaking that same dark substance he had coughed up previously.
It never healed properly like a wound should. To him? It was vile and disgusting and inhuman. Like some sort of monster. It made him want to puke, to know he’s lived like this for so long.
He knew he was dying. That was a fact.
He felt it every day deep within his very core. The way he felt adrenaline and fear pump through him at the slightest noise, the constant anxiety over the worst to come, the way his once perfectly fitting clothes sagged on his limbs, and the way he felt his heartbeat get slower everyday.
It had gotten to a point where sometimes Avid couldn’t even feel his own pulse on certain days.
And it horrified him.

Avid is feverish. He keeps losing control of his behaviour, is constantly shaking, and overall, he doesn't feel like himself. With Oakhurst's doctor occupied with trying to work out the cure for Vampirism, Avid doesn't want to trouble him with looking at the wound on his neck that hasn't healed in the decade he's had it. He does, however, trouble himself with his symptoms getting worse, so when he learns that every illness and wound is healed when turned into a vampire, he can only think of one thing.
Wait, what is that again? Oh right.Drastic times call for drastic measures.
OR Avid's turning scene from episode 5, just in a bit more detail, because I find it fun to bea body language translator for the silly block people.
