Summary
Wren is a pilot of the stolen mech Myrgos, and is part of a rebel enclave fighting against the doings of the Empire. On a backwater planet, preparing to destroy a crucial fuel depot, their hideout is destroyed in a brutal, no-survivors-type-attack. When a basic human instinct leads Wren to save the life of an Imperial scout in the wrong place at the wrong time, she finds herself struggling to hate the woman on the other side. The self she created for herself as a survival mechanism begins to falter.
It only gets worse from there.

Every day during study hall, Emris can always be found in the library.
It's simple routine he has fallen into quite readily. He has every shelf, every nook memorized by now, the layout second nature to him. Each face that shares his fate is familiar, carefully etched within his mind's growing ledger in the past four years since he started coming here. He collects them like playing cards in his mind, wondering where they came from, where they are going; he doesn't bother to ask.
Hugo, with his pragmatic gaze and dismissive sighs. Maya, with her bubbling voice and welcoming grin. Urian, introspective and enigmatic, passing him the occasional curious glance every once in a while. Indeed, he has learned to recognize every pair of eyes that walks through those doors, without fail, without upset.
Except, today. Today, Febuary 4th, there is a new face peeking at him amongst the volumes, with eyes whose gentleness he does not recognize. And... goodness. He can't help but be drawn to them like a moth to a flame.
This oddity of a newcomer is trouble.
