Summary
Caine knows the gang wants to leave the circus, but cannot bring himself to tell them they are stuck forever. So he conjures up a plan to make a fake suburbia in the Digital World, called Nowhere, Illinois. Throughout the story, we see the gang deal with jobs, being stuck living together, and a familiar once thought to be abstracted character, who turns out to be a major asshole, that almost gets one of the circus members killed.

Pomni, in search of a new home after running from her last one, finds herself in a bunker run by a madman and a psychotic child. The others tell her that it’s best to just play along, but she’s not so sure. Especially after she sees what happens to those he decides aren’t worth keeping around. There’s a world out there, and sure it isn’t the best one, but it’s far better than what will happen to them if they stay where they're at. With help from her newfound friends, she’s got to get out before Caine decides that he’s bored and abstracts them, turning them all into his own idea of a twisted masterpiece.

Pomni hit the ground hard enough to knock the wind out of her. She gasped for air, coughing a few times, the cold of the ground helping to orient her. There were spots in her vision and she winced at the sharp throb in her skull.
Finally, her lungs filled with air and her eyes were able to open and she saw…what the hell was she looking at? Pomni was on the ground, on her back, and in front of her was some kind of…pod? Chamber? The front door had unlatched and was currently wide open, the clamps that had previously kept her secured in place open and empty, a headset melded to the headrest. A headset that was distinctly empty…because her head was attached to her body…on the ground— holy shit is she real?!
