Summary
Namira Kincadia, a sanctioned psyker born of Cadian stock, was called to answer the call of her blood kinship to one of the three largest Rogue Trader dynasties of the Koronus Expanse, that of House von Valancius. She never thought that she would become the Rogue Trader herself! She had thought that the worst thing that she would have to deal with was a mutiny; she never expected to find herself enamoured with an Interrogator of the esteemed Ordo Xenos.
Interrogator Heinrix van Calox hadn't anticipated that a minor investigation involving a crashed xenos ship on Rykad Majoris would turn into investigating a cult of apocalyptic proportions. He also hadn't anticipated meeting the newest Rogue Trader in the Koronus Expanse either. He thought that the Cult of the Final Dawn would be his biggest headache... how wrong he was.
A retelling and canon divergence from the Rogue Trader video game. The work starts as per the video game, with major changes happening later, while retaining the same structure.

Forced by circumstance into an existence where she has had to fight for every breath, she dreams of freedom from the tireless hunters who stalk her footsteps and seek her ruin. Thrust once more into a life she did not ask for, Visenya must now lead those who once saw her as nothing more than a mongrel.
Both are strays in a war-torn galaxy, simply seeking a place to belong.

The story follows psyker Venria von Valancius on her journey of coming to terms with her past and present - from a life of fear and sorrow to suddenly being named a Rogue Trader and new head of the von Valancius dynasty, while dealing with all the problems and threats she seemed to have inherited from her predecessor.

I also add artwork directly to the end of the corresponding chapters.-> While this story follows the events of the game and stays close to canon, it unfolds mostly between the game's quests. Usually, Heinrix and Venria only reflect on them. Expect a lot of Heinrix/Venria interaction between them as this is a dialog-heavy story with a focus on Venria and her developing relationship with Heinrix van Calox.

He was skulking.
Hardly his favorite form of information gathering, but needs must. He’d tried listening in through the vox network at first, but found the comm lines that served the Navigator’s sanctum too well isolated and too regularly purified by the tech-priests for his modifications to go unnoticed long. After that failure, he’d moved to placing physical recording devices within the sanctum but found that, too, unsatisfactory. When he’d returned to collect the hidden dataslates, he’d found them dark and lifeless, their machine-spirits having long since fled, unable to withstand the glow of the Immaterium that so often bathed the room. And thus, he was reduced to the oldest and lowest form of information gathering, the one he favored the least – skulking outside the door like an unwanted child. At least his biomancy allowed him to sharpen his hearing enough that he was not forced to crouch on the ground and press his ear to whatever slight gaps he might find between door and bulkhead. A small mercy.
The subjects of this hasty and unpleasant investigation were the Lord Captain and Lady Navigator themselves.

He had to magic it away, fairly often. Only it would come back tomorrow or the day after. It was a hard line to walk between giving into his body's needs, letting it react like the animal that it was, and when to collar that instinct in service of a higher calling. And these were reports.
