Harry hadn't expected Joey to ask him to stay late to talk with him. He would have thought that, since it was Halloween, he would have have been itching to get home in time to join the festivities.
Harry for one had just wanted to get home in peace and hopefully have a nice, quiet evening to himself. It never seemed to last very long before things went wrong for him, and he didn't want to test his luck on a Halloween.
He hoped that whatever Joey wanted to talk to him about could be wrapped up quickly and he gets home before something happened.

Stiles has known what he is since birth (and before, really), though his father doesn't. He thinks his mother suspected, had an idea that her son wasn't really her son. She was perceptive that way, and Stiles wonders if she maybe had a touch of magic. He thinks that's why when her disease seized her, she screamed that he was evil, that he was trying to kill her. That he wasn't really hers. Everyone had chalked it up to the dementia getting worse, but Stiles wonders how much of it was her being unable to contain her suspicions and letting them run wild. Once Claudia dies, Stiles is truly the only one who knows he's other. That is, until Peter.

Summary
Harry is "rescued" from the Dursleys by a necromancer with glowing acid-green eyes and strange tattoos. His new mama isn’t the most affectionate, but she makes up for it by teaching Harry all sorts of exciting dark magic like crafting horcruxes and speaking to the dead. Despite this, he reckons he turned out just fine.
In which the adults don’t hang the weight of the world on one child’s shoulders, Harry gets to be a perfectly normal Hogwarts student (with only a few near-death experiences, a reasonable amount of murder, and his mass-murderer godfather hiding in his trunk), and the author spends a good portion of his time ignoring the plot for exploring magical theory and the power of friendship.

“My parents loved me, and I knew it,” Tim says, words tumbling from his mouth like a casualty-heavy rockfall. “And I didn’t know how good I had it, to have a home with people I knew loved me. It wasn’t always good and it hurt almost all the time, but…but because of that, I know the difference. I know the difference between a home with people who hurt you but love you, and a home with people who hurt you and, and don’t.”
“You have defined the love of your sister and your person by moments in which they hurt you. Does every person who loves you do it with a blade dug into your skin?”
Because when you’re a teenager, you mean it when you say something is the worse thing that’s ever happened to you. You mean it when you say someone’s ruining your life. You mean all those things that adults roll their eyes at. Because an adult saying those things would be overdramatic. And that’s what had happened. Dick treated Tim like an overdramatic adult.
It’s the trolley problem. Direct intervention is culpability. If Bruce makes the choice, he’ll be a murderer. If he lets them all die, his hands will be clean, but the guilt will destroy him. The only choice is for someone else to choose. To save Batman by taking the choice away from him.
This is what I'm for.
And really, who can blame Damian for the trepidation? A Gotham Robin has many natural predators, and one of them is a predecessor freshly dipped in the green tea bath from hell.

And it's not a lie and it's not the truth either. It's– he wants to hurt Jason the way he wanted balloons full of investment shares to fall out of the sky when Drake Industries collapsed. He doesn't want to hurt Jason the way you want to go to a movie or ask someone out or get something to eat. He wants to hurt Jason as a wish, not an action. There's a difference.
"Dick, I was here to be Robin," Tim blurts out, like a spurt of blood from a punctured throat. "You and Jason– Bruce wanted you because of you. He saw you, all your anger and hurt and needs, and wanted to help you. Wanted to take you in. Later, he wanted you as a partner. Later, he made you Robin. But Dick and Jason came first. Robin came after."
Dick squeezes his eyes shut. Presses fists to his temples. "You and Cass were Robin and Batgirl before you were adopted. You were both asked to give up those roles the second Bruce was gone. She was ordered to leave Gotham. You were ordered to legally leave the family."

The Dragon, watching Jason, Dick, and Damian fight like Looney Tunes characters over who gets to make a sacrifice for Tim: Mm, I think that perhaps Tim Drake might be an unreliable narrator?
The Dragon: ...I could tell them that I don't have an actual claim on Tim's soul... but as a professional sibling haver (derogatory) I wholeheartedly support making siblings squirm and cry and beg. It's enrichment for me.
