Rudo siempre había tenido una extraña fascinación con los objetos destartalados, todo aquello que la gente desechaba o consideraba inútil, Regto, su padre adoptivo, le había dicho alguna vez que Rudo se veía reflejado en esos objetos. Rudo no lo entendía del todo, solo sabía que le gustaba repararlos, aumentar su tiempo de vida y quizás encontrarles un nuevo hogar, Zanka siempre decía que parecía que hablaba de un cachorrito perdido y no de basura, Rudo no consideraba que estos objetos fueran basura.
De forma no irónica, lo mismo aplicaba para las personas, el grupo de amigos de Rudo estaba compuesto por aquellos excluidos y raros que la gente no quería cerca, él también era uno.Es por eso que cuando se vio fascinado por el guapo y popular Tamsy Caines, sintió que estaba traicionando todos sus ideales.

“Hello there. New resident?” The boy asked, climbing the stairs two steps at a time with a big smile plastered on his face. Rudo's face grew hot with embarrassment.
Regto had advised him not to talk to strangers but this boy, although clearly older, didn't seem the least bit menacing. Plus they were probably neighbors, seeing as they lived in the same apartment complex and all.
