Summary
I wanted to explore how Mulder’s and Scully’s relationship develops across episodes and seasons.
This will be a collection of ficlets, each one centered on a single episode of Season 2, mostly canon compliant, sometimes filling in missing scenes or what happens after the episode fades out. Season 1 is already uploaded so if you want more insight to the story, go check it out first, because I try to keep some continuus.I honestly don’t know where this will go, so bear with me.
I’ll do my best to update daily, so stick with me. Suggestions, comments, feedback, and kudos are all very much appreciated.

Her entire world shifted. Her mother had found it shameful, her father, unforgivable. Daniel had found it impossible. Mulder found it… fascinating.'His heart ached for her, and the terrible things that must have led her to even consider this arrangement.
He had to say something, he had to give her a chance to turn around and make a better decision.‘Is this what you want, Dana?’ He asked abruptly, stepping further into her personal space than he had before.
She felt her entire world still, and a raw pain shot through her. Not one person in her life had cared to ask her that yet.
‘It is what must be done.’ She said simply, and the air stung around her words.
He nodded, his eyes dropping from hers to somewhere over her shoulder. He didn’t move away, and Dana felt a scorching heat envelop her body in his presence. She thought it must be fear, or perhaps just a symptom of her situation.
It suffocated her, the dry heat, the deep, woodsy smell of him, the insanity of his questioning. It was all too much.' -

Assistant Director John Doggett has vowed not to return until she is free, and in the meantime he writes down everything he can remember. He does this for them both, so that he never repeats his mistakes, and so that when she is exonerated he can help her remember being Monica Reyes.

He stilled her hands, placing both of his over hers “Look at me please” he said gently, his tone reassuring. She didn’t want to, she knew one look at him and she’d crumble but she did it anyway. His eyes were soft and reassuring brimming with concern.

We deserved to see more of these two on cases together!
With the X-Files officially closed, Agent Mulder is sent to a regional field office on a tedious assignment and told to take his new partner with him. On the way, they stop in a small town plagued by mysterious happenings around the full moon, and the disappearance of a local woman. Maintaining distance from the case quickly proves challenging. What's worse, Mulder finds he's having trouble maintaining distance from his partner as well.
