Connor is drunk.
“I’m not drunk, you know.”
Well, he’s not wrong. Connor isn’t drunk in the typical sense, but rather experiencing an adjacent state close enough to be imprecisely considered the same. The tells are all in what can be interpreted to be his ‘physiological’ signs: the whirr of cooling fans in his system perceptible in their new intensity, the faint blush of blue on his face, his rather adorable half-lidded eyes that inhumanly snap to full attention again when he notices you looking at him to remind you that he’s playing at being drunk.
“Semantics,” you say, turning your head to brush your lips by his cheek. It makes him smile. Lazily, Connor inches his head closer to your mouth in open invitation. You take it while his hand closes the front door behind you, all the while guiding your feet towards the bedroom. “But I’ll bite. If you’re not drunk, then what did they put in there, and what did it do to you?”

Summary
Detective Y/N L/N. She had father/daughter relationship with the one and only Hank Anderson and had grown to love the RK800 Model, Connor. However, that love was taken away when Hank committed suicide and when Connor pulled a gun on himself as well while trying to speak to a crowd of deviants.
Everyone she loved was gone and now it’s just her. Or so she thought.
Soon after, the RK900 model shows up and completely turns her world upside. She can’t seem to get away from the feelings that are slowly rising within as she spends more time with the RK900 Connor as he reminds her of the Connor she once knew.
But she is afraid, afraid that she will grow to love the RK900 model and he will be taken from her. Or he won’t love her since he is an obedient android after all. What she doesn’t know though is that she has a much bigger impact on him than she realizes.
So much so that it might actually scare him.

Nines’ stoic expression softens. For a moment you see the rare vulnerability in his eyes that never fails to make your heart flutter, and you pause momentarily to swallow the lump in your throat. Focus, focus. You could be professional enough to avoid letting your feelings for him interfere with your work.
“Of course, Doctor.”
You press the bandage against his shoulder, willing it to seal faster while you turn what has been said over and over in your mind. Unlike Connor, Nines stayed steadfast to his nature as a machine and deliberately refused to adopt a human figure of speech to describe his processes, citing that it wouldn’t be entirely accurate. Translating ‘some error in the weightage of his priorities’ sounded like it had something to do with emotions rather than logic–that Nines, irrationally, wanted something that involved you more so than ensuring his safe repair.
A horribly injured Nines–at least, by your standards (and not his own)–shows up at your door against all logic.

It had been fine earlier, in the after hours of the precinct after the rest of the department had left the both of you alone. Perfectly normal as it usually was for the two of you when you started mouthing off at the android, snide and snarky with the misconception that he would have done nothing in retaliation. All mundane and the usual as you leaned back in your chair after a sharp comment from Nines stirred the anger in your chest, your mouth automatically moving to spit something about how heartless and cold he was–nothing except just an unfeeling machine. Even when Nines grit his teeth and stood from his chair, it was well within the realm of the typical.
Unfeeling? Nines had repeated, walking over in that same stiff, rigid walk. You call me unfeeling?
Nines is not unfeeling. He is not oblivious to your feelings, either.
