Summary
Comments on Jensen's opinions on Dean vs. those expressed by the writers and how it relates to his own background. Overall, I think Jensen’s understanding of Dean is highly experiential; his approach is focused on feeling what Dean would feel. It works wonders. But it means he doesn’t have as many metacognitive skills for parsing out what he thinks of Dean vs. what Dean thinks of Dean (aka character bleed). That’s ok, though, because the writers and showrunners are able to supply more of that metacognitive function, thinking about the processes that went into creating Dean as a character and making decisions accordingly. And when they work in tandem the result is this incredibly real, heartbreakingly vulnerable man we love.

Summary
The title of Supernatural episode 14x08 was announced as "Byzantium" and it inspired me to speculate about what the significance might be. My very first association is with the W.B. Yeats poem “Sailing to Byzantium" that begins, “That is no country for old men.” It feels like there’s a lot potentially happening now with ideas of succession and generations, with Jack on the scene and with the turnover of power in Heaven and Hell, with Dean’s heartbreaking daydream of a TFW beach trip with umbrella drinks, Hawaiian shirts, and toes in the sand. Tl; dr is that I think Jack will die in 14x08 and that he will want to. But don’t worry he’ll be back.

Story summary:
The Four Lands had stood together for centuries, united under the molten metal heart of the City at the Heart of All Things. The northern kingdom of fire and wind, the western mountains of forest and ice, the eastern plains of iron and breath, the southern isles of stone and sea.
The King or Queen of the heart married the Princesses and Princes of their lands, uniting metal and fire, ice and breath and stone. This had gone on for centuries and generations, and would for centuries and generations more.

It starts with a text. Or, more accurately, it starts with an event showing up on Stiles's Google Calendar ominously titled "Prep for Courting-Date: Alpha Male, 28, 6' 0"/185 lbs." It was ominous because A: Stiles hasn't been on a courting-date with anyone other than Danny for his last four heat-cycles and B: because Deaton has never scheduled a "prep" meeting once in the three years he's been Stiles's matchmaker. So, of course, Stiles texts Deaton to see what is up. Deaton's reply is short and to the point. Stiles will be at this prep meeting. And he will go on this date. No ifs, ands, or buts.

Incomplete story, never going to be finished, but the fic notes that comprise chapter 3 are AMAZING, and outline what would've happened, and are a fascinating window into two fanfic writers' worldbuilding and plotting processes. And damn but the worldbuilding notes are extensive!
