Summary
Rhaenyra Targaryen has always felt wrong, broken, misunderstood. She's never completely fit into the perfect Targaryen family ideal — rough around the edges, breathing a flame of anger when pushed, paranoid that the past will come back to haunt her. All she wants is to be loved understood by those around her. But with a little amount of people in her corner she feels isolated and lost. So, she carries the burdens of her past trauma alone.
But when another public scandal erupts, Viserys makes a decision in a final attempt to get his daughter on the right path. Rhaenyra is sent to the Maiden's College. A prestigious, all-girls school in the Reach where she will be personally looked after by Viserys' old friend, Otto Hightower. Otto promises Viserys that his daughter will take the girl under her wing.
Alicent Hightower has grown up as the golden girl of the Reach. Her family rivals the wealth of House Targaryen, and Alicent doesn't shy away from this fact.
