    (Or: in a universe where Krypton took an extra thirty-odd years to implode, Kal-El was sent to Earth as an adult, in advance of the ship containing the only other surviving Kryptonians; and a quirk of Kryptonian law means negotiating refuge, potential resettlement, and an alliance with the Kryptonians in general is dependent on marriage between a Kryptonian and a human. Bruce did what it took to make sure that that human would be him, instead of some poor unprepared civilian—but his efforts to learn more about the aliens, what they want and why they're here, and how, if necessary, to kill them ... don't go the way he's expecting them to.)

    Krypton was destroyed years later than in canon so Kal-El was able to grow up on Krypton with his parents. He was sent ahead to Earth and lived a year with Martha Kent and grew used to Earth’s atmosphere.
    Beginning of fic Bruce Wayne was selected to marry Kal so that humans could be included per Kryptonian law. Bruce is Batman. Kal renames himself Clark and becomes Superman.
    Zod and Luther are villains.

    This was not what Clark had heard. This was not what Clark was prepared for. He’d braced himself for someone unreasonable and glib, charismatic but ultimately with no depth.
 The man standing in front of him was— Clark wasn’t sure what he was. But it was not that.

    “You,” he ventured, “love this city very much, don’t you?”

    Wayne didn’t tear his eyes away from the skyline, seemingly contemplating something.

    “I do,” he said finally, then turned back to Clark. “Mr Kent. Do I know you?”

    and so this is how one spell, gone wrong, leads to Superman's and Batman's memories being erased, which then leads to Clark and Bruce tumbling headfirst into a friends with benefits situation, which then spirals even more rapidly from there.

    Both are hit with a spell that temporarily causes them to forget their superhero alias so when they meet at a gala as Clark and Bruce they sleep together. When they regain their memories they believe it was “a mistake” but then they start sleeping together and going on dates. In the end they finally realize they are truly in love with each other.

    Summary

    After the explosion at Nasty Burger, Danny abandons his home dimension in his grief, with Vlad's help. They work together to ensure that the ghosts of the Infinite Realms have no access to that dimension, and thus protect them from the danger the GIW poses.

    However, this does not abate Danny's grief, nor his fears. What if he loses himself in his grief and anger and loss, and it twists him and turns him into another Pariah Dark? What if he ends up hurting the Infinite Realms?

    So, he leaves.

    When Juno and Minerva told him he was going to die if he activated the device to save the world, he believed them. They had no reason to lie and Minerva’s expression made it clear that she had been worried. Whether she had been worried about him or about the future of the world if Juno got out, Desmond didn’t know.

    But he couldn’t help but think that Minerva had a hand in all these.

    That the reason why he woke up in the city of Jerusalem during the 12th century was because of something she did.

    Still…

    He would have appreciated it if she didn’t also return him to his 16-year-old body.

    Now, having no idea what to do, Desmond decided to let history play out the way it did before and made his way to Alamut to be inducted into the Brotherhood without being part of Masyaf.
    This way he could monitor everything without being in the middle of it.

    Unfortunately, he forgot one important thing.

    Everything he knows of this time period was based on Altaïr’s memories.

    And, thanks to how different Abstergo’s Animus was from Rebecca’s, Altaïr’s memories had always been incomplete.

    Eagle of Alamut by teecup_angel
    Desmond/Altair
    Desmond de-ages to 16 and time travels to Jerusalem years before the events of Assassin’s Creed. He decides to join Alamut and not Masyaf to not change Altair’s history. He becomes an assassin, gets adopted by the mentor and adopts his own bird child. Eventually Altair’s fate is changed by hearing about Desmond and they finally meet. They fall hopelessly in love with each (to the hilarious detriment of the people around them.) Desmond learns he can change history so he can be with Altair. He also gets rid of Al Mualim and Juno and the future is a brighter one.
