Summary
Steve had grown up pretty spoiled, aside from his rocky relationship with his parents. He was used to getting what he wanted, and what he wanted was Eddie.
So it was really frustrating to not have him.
Update: hey i’m gonna rewrite/majorly edit this chapter and continue to write a second chapter. It might take a while, but when i do i’ll replace the current chapter :)

“What’d you do to his face?” Eddie demands, almost whining, like Steve Harrington having his face bashed in is an affront to him personally.

“Another day, another starbies,” or whatever that blonde girl says on TikTok. Starbucks was the hell I subjected myself to for the last 5 years. It was my first job, and since I didn’t take anything else seriously, it was still my job. Being a 21-year-old barista wasn’t shameful or anything, but I always hoped for something bigger, like touring the world with the shitty garage band I built in high school. It was hard to keep those dreams alive when all my bandmates went off to college—bigger and better things.
Ding.
“Hi. Welcome to Starbucks. Edward speaking. What can I get started for you?”
“Hey, Edward. Can I get a venti americano with oatmilk?”
I knew that voice anywhere. He had been a regular for as long as I’ve worked mornings. At least. “Steve. Good morning. We’ll see you at the window.”
The headset clicked off, and I tried to contain my little smile. The man was gorgeous and sweet. I couldn’t be the only one crushing on him in this damn store. But as I looked around, trying to meet someone’s eyes, no one was as excited as I was.
OR Eddie has a crush on the hot, slightly older regular who definitely has his shit together.
