Summary
Zoro, his Zoro, was calling someone else “Captain.” Was calling someone other than Luffy, “Captain.” Even if it was Shanks and Shanks was amazing, it still wasn't right, he couldn’t be called “Captain.”
No one could, that was Luffy.
But now Zoro was saying someone else was Captain and someone else was crew and Zoro didn't remember Luffy, even though Luffy had done nothing but remember Zoro over these past two years. Every time he had woken up or gone to bed, or seen green that was the same color as his hair, or seen clouds that were the same color as his eyes, or heard a sharp snapping sound that could have been similar to blades clashing if you didn't focus on it too much, he remembered.
Luffy remembered Zoro a lot and Zoro didn't remember Luffy at all.
Didn't miss Luffy.
Didn't call Luffy, “Captain.”

Toshirou went to their favorite restaurant, and was unsurprised when he saw the permhead already there. He sat next to him as usual, and the atmosphere between them was noticeably less awkward than it should’ve been. It only served to piss him off even more. They ate, they drank, they talked about meaningless things. Even as they finished their food and began trying to out-drink each other, even as the alcohol was loosening their tongues and making their vision turn dark, the source of Toshirou’s irritation remained firmly unspoken.
There was a part of him that desperately wanted to suck it up and tell Gintoki how he felt; how mad he was about earlier, how long he had been pining for the guy, how much he wanted to be with him. But all he had to do was remember Gintoki’s apathy and aloofness about the whole situation, and he was back to square one. It hurt. It really fucking hurt. He woke up the next morning after blacking out, with a nasty hangover and a firm resolve to keep that asshole from getting under his skin.
OR: Hijikata needing a therapist for 20 chapters straight.

Life goes on as usual. (Not) paying the rent late, going to a pachinko parlor and eating strawberry parfaits are a part of Gintoki's daily routine. But as of late, a new habit wormed its way in his peaceful everyday life. He wakes up every night in a cold sweat gasping for air. After waiting with bated breath, he hears the sounds of Kagura and Sadaharu's breathing coming from the closet. 'They're here.' No longer able to sleep, he throws off his covers, gets dressed and picks up his bokuto.
The spring night is cold and his breath clouds the air before him. He stands in a pristine meadow, almost in a daze.
And underneath the moonlight, he starts a fervent sword dance.
