    Summary

Natasha should've known that a "small matter" in Fury's eyes is usually code for a pretty big deal, and a "pretty big deal" means she'll be bleeding out by the end and left to limp back home.

Such an ordeal is worthy of the good alcohol Tony keeps hidden in the tower, so her plan was to snag that before licking her wounds in the comforting isolation of her room.

The last thing she expected to stumble across was a party.

    Summary

Coulson laid the tape recorder on the table in front of her and hit record before speaking.
“State your full name, date, and reason for this interview.”
Natasha stared at him for a few seconds before speaking.
“My full name is Natalia Alianovna Romanova. The date is September, eighth, and the year is 2002. I will provide whatever information and help necessary in order to locate and take down the Red Room and the Black Widow program in exchange for my freedom and being able to see my sister.”

    Summary

Natasha Romanoff is absolutely fine. Of that, she is certain. She has convinced herself that she is absolutely not addicted to self-harm, convinced her team that the Red Room and all its horrors are in the past, convinced her brain that the things she experienced weren't really that bad, and convinced everyone around her that she is absolutely, undeniably, 1000% fine.

But delusions only last so long, and hers begin to shatter as her past returns, piece by fateful piece. When you grow up in a burning house, you tend to set your world on fire for a sense of familiarity. It's only in recognizing our trauma that we can learn to live in piece. Eventually, she will have to make a decision. Does she wants to continue the pain and suffering she's learned to use as her only form of control or will she take the risk to see if there's something better on the other side?

    **CURRENTLY UNDERGOING EDITS**

TW: self-harm, eating disorders, abuse (physical, mental, sexual) as a child and adult, torture as a child and adult, rape as a child and adult, light mentions of alcoholism, self-hatred/self-blame/etc. (basically the author is trauma-dumping)

It’s dark when they bury JJ. It’s dark when there’s a sharp pain in her lower stomach and Sarah knows, right down to her bones, what’s happening. They should never have gotten used to good things.

There’s a moment when JJ knows it’s over. Between the cops whispering, Sarah’s Dad being led away by SBI, and the death-like quiet that falls over the tent, there’s no way they get their happy ending.
