The question is calm, almost curious, as if he’s asking about the weather.
In-ho’s breath clouds in front of him. He meets Gi-hun’s eyes—those ridiculous, stubborn eyes—and for once doesn’t lie.
“Yes,” he says, the word scraping out like gravel. “You didn’t… make it off the island.”In-ho escapes the island with the baby, hiding in a remote coastal house haunted by guilt and eerie signs: moving toys, familiar songs on a broken turntable, gunpowder scents. Then Gi-hun appears—translucent, confused, calling him Young-il. A haunting born of regret, a fragile companionship neither can let go, and one final message that sends In-ho searching for answers.

Summary
“Why,” Gihun said, voice trembling with the effort to hold it all in. “Why did you let me live?”
Inho blinked. His smile faltered, replaced by confusion, “What are you talking about?”
“I said,” Gihun was on his feet before he even realized it, the chair screeching across the floor as he lunged across the table. “Why did you let me live?!”
Seong Gihun is in a weird place. He finds out that everyone is alive and never experienced the Games. He assumes this is the afterlife and realizes perhaps he can finally heal.
Then he meets Hwang Inho.

“Do you want to kill me?” He asks, a little breathless. He reaches out his hand to touch the knife, his finger sliding along the edge. A drop of blood slides down his palm. “It’s ok Gi-hun. You can.”
Gi-hun’s face is carefully blank. In-ho finds himself wondering when he learned how to do that. He hopes Gi-hun copied it from him.
“Don’t move.” Gi-hun says. And then he takes the knife and slices it clean through In-ho’s shirt.
Gi-hun kills the baby. This changes things.

“You think I don’t want you like this?” In-ho’s voice is a rasp against his skin, heavy with heat. His tongue flicks over the curve of Gi-hun’s jaw, sending a shiver down his spine. “It’s you. How could I not?”
Gi-hun tells himself he doesn’t want it, but his body betrays him every time. In-ho knows exactly how to push him past protest into trembling need—messy, humiliating, and utterly his.
