Summary
So while we all knew that the 2020 written in the book would be glorious fiction, we didn’t realize that reality would throw us something to take 2020 even further away from the book’s events. This story is where I attempt to merge our 2020 reality and the fiction of RWRB, using research (a LOT of research) to try to figure out what the trajectory of reality might have been. The story starts picking up the timeline after their late-February trip to Paris. After that, it's strictly AU, but I try to keep a lot of the intents of the events in the book (for instance, Alex's trip to confront Henry in Britain after the lake) while still making them fit the narrative I've created.
Title is from one of the best ever Bowie songs, and the lyrics are so fucking beautiful and perfect for these two.

“She regained her balance and examined what exactly had happened. It was a tall office building that had a hole in the side of it with smoke pouring out, but that looked to be about it.
“Icarus, what’s our situation?” Winefred asked as she scouted the area, watching for any more explosives.
“Well, there seems to be a small fire from a computer but the fire department is on their way. Oh, looks like someone is trapped under a piece of rubble just through that hole in front of you. But be careful, I don’t trust this.”
“I‘ll be as careful as always. Can’t work jobs with broken bones.””
Just a vigilante AU of my original characters…not sure if anyone will read it but I enjoy writing it so here it is. (i promise the writing gets better i started this two years ago ;-;)

Summary
To say that Harry's fifth year at Hogwarts had turned out to be the most eventful to date is, despite past run-ins with giant spiders, basilisks, dragons and Voldemort himself, actually an understatement. As if breaking into the High Inquisitor's office to illegally floo into the Ministry of Magic and break inside the Department of Mysteries, only to be surrounded by Death Eaters, wasn't enough...
