Summary
After overhearing she may be the last, the unicorn leaves the safety of her forest to find out if she's truly the last unicorn left in the world.
Travelling magician Aziraphale knows he wants more than the life he's currently living, but it takes meeting the unicorn to force him to make a change.
Crowley once dreamed of being Robin Hood, but fell in with bandits instead. A chance meeting with the unicorn makes him think there may still be good left in him.
Despite Aziraphale's protests, the two men find themselves on a quest to find King Haggard, the Red Bull and where the other unicorns have gone.A loose re-telling of The Last Unicorn.

This story is for @Chandyowlet, who was the winning bidder on my 2025 Fandom Trumps Hate fanfic auction. The request was for an exploration of the risks and consequences for gay men serving in the US military in the mid-1990s — peak season of the infamous “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy that resulted in so many dishonorable discharges for the ‘crime’ of being queer. Ash and Tonio burst into my brain to tell their story; I adore these two, and I hope you’ll all enjoy their journey through darkness and toward the light 💛
New chapters will be posted on Tuesdays, with the sixth and final chapter dropping on December 23.

“I thought you’d be dead to the world by now,” Aziraphale says, despite having brought in tea for two. He sets the tray on the bedside table and then sits in the open crescent of rumpled duvet beside Crowley. “Are you feeling quite sated after your swim?”
“Depends on your idea of sated, I s’pose,” Crowley mumbles, both golden eyes barely cracked open in the late morning light filtering in. “Took the hard edge off a bit, yeah, but there’s always something left to be desired…mmh. Quenched, maybe, is a better word.”
Aziraphale gently arches a brow at this but reaches for his cup of darjeeling. “Is there?” he asks, blowing at the steam curling off the top. “Give me an example of these things you find yourself needing quenched.”
Crowley snorts and lets his jaw crack around another wide yawn. “If you wanna play charades about it, angel, you can come under this duvet and I’d be glad to give you a demonstration.”

Summary
Aziraphale was perfect. From his slightly up-turned nose, his cloud-like hair and his eyes that seemed to always shift from blue to green to gold. He was soft and round and strong and handsome. His personality only added to Crowley’s attraction. A prim and proper angel, fussy and sarcastic, and so unlike the others. Sweet, considerate, careful. He and Crowley were a pair. A match made in Eden.
Or, they would have been.
If not for Gabriel.
