Wei Ying simply needed to fix that! “I need a mate that’s good in bed!” He declared boldly. The crowd burst into a chaotic mess at that. Suck it, Lan Wangji! You’re holding hostage a political nightmare! “I need a mate that’s so good in bed I shouldn’t be able to walk for days afterward! So good I shouldn’t be able to speak properly when they’re done with me!” Wei Ying crowed loudly, practically singing out all the things his poor virgin brain had fantasized about. He saw one older woman in the crowd swoon in shock. He grinned. “If my mate isn’t good in bed then what’s the point!? I’m a crow so I’ll be stuck in my nest forever until our babies are hatched, I’d die of boredom if the sex was bad! I’d fall asleep halfway through!” He whined loudly.
Wei Ying had been so caught up in the crowd’s reaction that he missed the way Lan Wangji’s golden gaze grew more and more heated with every word.

Lan Zhan finds himself returning the smile. “Go home,” he urges gently, because it’s cold, and Wei Ying does not look like he’s dressed warmly enough to be out in the streets like this.
Wei Ying’s smile dims. “A-Ying sleeps here when it’s cold,” he tells Lan Zhan. “When it’s summer, A-Ying likes to stay by the pond!”
Lan Zhan frowns, looking at the alley around them. His stomach churns at the thought of leaving Wei Ying there. “Has Wei Ying eaten?”
