Summary
He’d bled out. He knew he had. If the batarang didn’t rip him away from this world on its own, then the bomb should have finished the job, and it did. Jason felt himself slip away. Once you’ve experienced death, there is no mistaking the sensation for anything else. Everything had been carried out the way it was supposed to, so how?
Jason didn’t leave the apartment for nine days. He ate canned ravioli and watched reruns of news footage covering the showdown with Joker, who had landed back in Arkham without a scratch on him. Batman saved the day again, folks. Red Hood was off the streets. Ding dong, the witch was dead.
Most hoped that the Hood was gone for good, either slain by the clown or scared away by the Batman. Either way, good riddance. Black Mask was still alive and kicking, regrettably, the fuckin’ cockroach.
And, more regrettably, so was Jason.

Summary
A young version of Jason Todd gets time displaced and dropped into the Batcave. Wide-eyed, loudmouthed, and still soft enough to believe the world won’t eat him alive.
He thinks seeing his future self is cool. He thinks the grey hair is funny. He thinks the tension in the room is nothing a joke can’t fix.
Then he notices the guns.
When he demands answers, Jason gives them to him—every ugly piece, every shard of the truth no one else wants spoken out loud.
Sometimes the past comes calling. And sometimes it looks you in the eyes and says it never wants to grow into the monster you’ve become.
“Yeah.” Jason murmurs. “I didn’t want to be me either.”

“Don’t you see?!” Jason yelled, his voice strained as tears dripped down his face and mixed with the rainwater. “The fear gas doesn’t matter. Because this is what it feels like - what I feel like - every second of every day. And it’s because of you!”
Dick flinched as Jason swayed dangerously on the edge of the rooftop. Jason’s hands were shaking violently, almost as much as his body, and Dick knew it wasn’t from the icy rain or the relentless winds. Tim seemed to notice it as well because he froze in his efforts to sneak closer to Jason from the other side. Damian even stopped his quiet cursing on the line about not being there.
“I feel nothing but fear and pain every day because I love you more than I hate him,” Jason threw his arms out in the vague direction of Arkham where the Joker sits alive in a cell, “But your code means more to you than I do. It means more than me. And that means he’s still alive and I’m left digging myself a new grave. Because it’s—fuck it’s killing me, but I can’t lose you guys. Not again.”
