Summary
Nie Ziniao is happy in her home life. She adores her co-parent He Yaling, and their sons Huaisang and Mingjue. But one day Huaisang comes home sobbing, and the two women step into action to comfort him when he tells them that his friend Jiang Cheng has broken his heart.

Huaisang rubbed his cheeks against his pillow, then he turned his head enough so that his mouth wasn't smothered against the pillowcase. "He's on a date, A-Niang," he said quite pitifully. "A date. With a girl. That his mother introduced him to."
"Who's on a date, Baobei?"
Huaisang hiccuped, and his shoulders shook again. "Jiang-xiong."
She glanced over at Yaling, and they traded raised eyebrows. Jiang Cheng was one of her son's two best friends and he'd never given any inkling that his feelings for the other boy might be anything other than friendship.

Summary
Nie Huaisang returns home from Cloud Recesses to find a party from Yunmeng Jiang already there and in talks with Nie Mingjue to form an alliance that would be cemented by his marriage to Jiang Yanli. The Alliance would give them the edge they all need over the Wen, and it's something he can't refuse outright. He plans to find a way out of the arrangement - his heart already belongs to another, loyal and dutiful Nie Zonghui whom he has loved in the shadows for fear of how their relationship might be received.
After much heartbreak, guilt, war, and love, Nie Huaisang will find a way to uphold both his duties to his brother and sect and those to his heart.

Summary

With his brother's corpse safely hidden away in Qinghe, Nie Huaisang visits him as often as he can. Even though his brother is still dead, it gives him some comfort to simply sit by the tomb's side and pretend Nie Mingjue is alive, listening to him tell about his day.
But on one of Wei Wuxian's many surprise visits, he tells Nie Huaisang about some new theories he's heard that might help heal Nie Mingjue's spirit enough to bring it peace. And when Wei Wuxian is finished, the results are even better - he's brought Nie Mingjue back to his body, sentient and aware.
It feels too good to be true, and Nie Huaisang doesn't know for how much longer he'll have his brother back in his life - but he's going to make the best of it, and keep him for as long as he can.

Summary
When Nie Huaisang had escaped his responsibilities to explore the city of Zhangde, the last thing he'd expected was to end up investigating the Wen remnants. But when he meets a young woman who claims to have known him as a child, a niece of Wen Ruohan's who escaped Nightless City before her uncle fell, she presents him with potential information that could help Wei Wuxian and possibly overturn much of the cultivation world. All she asks in return is a favour, but one that will be very difficult to accomplish alone.
As he follows the trail of breadcrumbs, what he learns will throw his world in a new light, both for good and for ill. What he discovers will change the fate of the cultivation world forever... but only if he manages to gain the courage to face it. Thankfully he doesn't have to do so alone, not if Jiang Cheng, Lan Wangji, and his new Wen friend have anything to say about it.

Wei Wuxian and the Wen remnants were given an offer they couldn't refuse that would allow them to return to the Jianghu and stop hiding in the Burial Mounds. Wei Wuxian was to destroy the Tiger Tally, and he and Wen Qing would use their brilliant minds to study the greatest mysteries of the Jin sect - first among which was discovering who had placed the Hundred Holes Curse on Jin Zixun, whose survival would determine whether the last of the Wen continued to live. Wary of the deal, Wei Wuxian negotiated an extra concession to guarantee the safety of the Wen - for Wen Qing to be married into the Jin and her family to receive all the protections that would bring. Jin Guangshan agreed, and Wen Qing and Jin Zixun were reluctantly married.
They despised one another, but they would only survive if the other thrived. But as long as the Hundred Holes Curse remained uncured, their mutual destruction was assured. Only when that problem was eventually resolved could they figure out how to continue living with one another.

He runs off to think, to escape, and eventually to get inspiration and advice from the memory of a friend long gone. He doesn't expect to come across Lan Wangji in Yiling, and he certainly doesn't expect to be given kindness from him. Though they've known each other for years, they've never been close, never had much in common.
But for one night, they find in each other something real to hold on to.

Summary

Summary
Jiang Cheng hated the day he had to choose his role, to register as either a Dominant or a submissive just like everyone else had to do. Such a small thing determined how much choice he had in life, and marking down what he truly was would have meant giving up on things that were important to him, including following in his father's footsteps to manage the family business.
And so he marked himself as a Dominant, no matter how he yearned for something else.
There were only a few clubs that didn't ask to see registrations from their guests, places where he could be who he truly was, even if it was while wearing a mask to conceal his identity. It was far from his first night out, but this time he met someone wearing a mask of his own, a man in a similar predicament and registered against his nature, who drew Jiang Cheng like no other and made him want to kneel.
Perhaps together they could lay down their masks and be themselves.
