Summary
Right before the events of the second movie Michael obsesses over Vanessa and the death of William. As he makes his way over to the old Afton family home he recounts memories of his and Vanessa’s upbringing. Michael had ran away from home as a teen, memories of which make way for feelings of guilt and jealousy.
Michael’s hope of rekindling the relationship with his father again was squandered because of William’s death two short years ago. After seeing his father’s killer at Vanessa’s house, Michael starts spiralling.
All that he wants is revenge on Mike but fate twists itself in unexpected ways.

With his palm pressed against his mouth, Michael heaved, wide eyes unfocused in the direction of a spot of dirt and grass a few inches from him, and he waited, and waited, for the pain to attack him once more. His body still shuddered, still hungered, but the dull ache in his jaw remained just that.
Swallowing drily, he ran his tongue on the upper row of teeth, and his stomach twisted.

Being woken up by your dead brother in the year 1982 is bad enough on its own, but it's made even worse when whatever force that sent you back in time didn't give you "almost functioning human" privileges. Rude. (Or: Time Travel Fix-It but nothing is taken seriously.)
