Rozanov cocked his head. “You speak Russian? Or just the curse words?”
“Yes, I speak Russian,” he snapped, defensive and angry. He knew that it had been a mistake to even try to be friendly with Rozanov. “Why? Do I not look Russian to you?” He scoffed.
“No, not really,” Rozanov said. Some of his teammates laughed, although they mostly looked surprised that Shane was speaking to them at all. Rozanov didn’t laugh, though. “Are you Russian?”
“Go fuck yourself.”

Despite an inauspicious start, when Russia’s Ilya Rozanov learns that Canada’s Shane Hollander is fluent in Russian at their first World Junior Championships tournament, it changes everything and sets them on a different course. Instead of being branded as rivals from the very beginning, Ilya and Shane start off as friends.

“Harry, do you know why people like Louis and me come to the center?”
Harry’s eyebrows drew together as he considered Zayn’s question, after a moment he shook his head.
“Well, places like this one are set up so that caretakers can find littles to take home with them to be a family. That’s why we were here a couple of weeks ago, so that we could meet a little boy or girl that we really like and have a… a playdate with them later, to make sure they like us right back, hopefully enough to come home with us.”
Zayn could practically see gears turning in Harry’s head.
“Do you like me?” Harry asked quietly and looked between the two men.
“We do, Harry. We like you a lot.” Louis smiled. “Do you like us?”
Harry nodded. “You’re nice. Like you a lot.”

“Do you think I will die from that height? Is it high enough?” He hears himself ask. He doesn’t know why he engaged a conversation with a stranger that’s likely to see him die. It’s not fair to neither of them. He shouldn’t talk, he should just jump, however there’s something about the stranger’s voice that sooths him and he wants to hear more of it. It’s selfish he knows, but Louis always was weak.
“Love, I need you to grab my hand for me okay? You could really hurt yourself, it’s dangerous to step over the barrier, love. Grab my hand, I’ll take you to the other side safely ok?”
The stranger doesn’t seem to understand how far the other side seems to Louis. "

Louis has suffered abuse from his father since he was a child. He needs to escape and Harry is there to show him that death isn't the only way to do so.
(And, necessarily, there is some Ziam in there, Zayn is a bruding artist, because how can he not be? and Liam is a PhD student.)

And the foreboding slammed into him. Because every product had letters next to it. Letters. GF, DF, V, O, VGN.

Lifting his eyes to the chalkboard menu spread across the back wall Louis felt physically ill. ‘Gluten-free’, ‘organic’, ‘vegan’, ‘paleo’, ‘dair-…’ Wait, what the fuck was a paleo? He had entered some hipster-trash establishment and it was more than time to get out.
ORLouis is a single dad and Harry works at the newly opened bakery down the street.
