Summary
Dr. Jensen Ackles was a brilliant mathematics professor and proud of his self-identified superpowers: He could detect unknown truths and ferret out deception in others.
In other words, he knew when people were lying.
This made him a valued resource to the FBI when they needed help cracking difficult cases. Jensen was glad to help, as long as they realized his superpowers came with a caveat.
Special Agent Jared Padalecki was a respected agent and gifted FBI profiler, currently leading a team tracking a serial killer. When his boss, SAC Jeff Morgan, decided to call upon an odd mathematician for help, Jared was skeptical as to how a college professor could be of any assistance. However, the agent soon became intrigued by the mathematician, and learned to value Jensen for his instincts, insights, and superpowers.
