(N.) The nostalgic longing to be near someone or something that is distant, or has been loved and lost; The love that remains.
And yet, looking at the skeleton of the Susano'o, he can't help but feel a strange sort of pride build within him, a yearning. It could be Madara's. It could be theirs, Izuna’s and his, in a way more intimate and complicated than humans were capable of by themselves.
After so much loss, he can't help but selfishly hoard his things.
(Once, when they were children, a shitty personality quiz between them, Madara had asked him;
“If you had to choose between saving the world and saving yourself, what would you pick?”
And Hashirama had looked up at the sky, nose scrunched in thought. His ugly bowl cut had swayed with the wind, and Madara remembers shadows bouncing off a brown baby-fat filled face as a big cloud covered the sun.

There are a few simple truths for those of the ruling class. Ones that Madara had grown to know well, being a man raised in blood and politics:
You’d do well not to trust important information to anyone who wouldn’t die for you.
Never lead by fear if you can help it.
Dress well.
And, if you want to succeed in a position of power, don’t be an Omega.
Madara followed these tenets as best he could, considering the circumstances.

“Please,” Hashirama whined.
