Summary
When Annette and Maggie die suddenly in a car crash, Hershel Greene embarks on a road trip with his two living children, Shawn and Beth, hoping it will mend their broken home. In a twist of events, the small family finds themselves held hostage by the Dixons, dangerous criminal brothers hell-bent on evading the police hunting them across the country.
Daryl's interest in Beth seems the perfect way for the Greenes to escape. The only problem is that Beth is just as attracted to him as he is to her. With the world around them changing due to a strange illness, the Dixons' abrasive behavior may be just what the Greenes need to survive.

Their little highness was a real chatterbox, make no mistake. And she was spoiled rotten to boot. Most children only had two parents; she had a whole slew of them. He supposed that in the end it probably made up for all the things they couldn't give her. Things like a real home and regular meals. Things like clothes that always fit her, visits to the doctor's office and those weird little milestones new parents always seemed to think were worth celebrating during that first, tenuous year of life.
