Summary
Newt loved Christmas. Genuinely and unironically.
It was in no small part because of his family.
He was and always had been close to his twin sister Sonya and her girlfriend Harriet. His next door neighbour and childhood best friend Minho had gotten engaged to his older brother Gally a year or two before. His parents, Mary and Vince weren’t altogether great with the tact around the reality of their three gay children, but they did their best anyway.
And even though Newt hadn’t lived in his hometown for nearing on ten years, the twenty-eight year old did still want to go home. The problem, of course, was the relationship status he completely lacked.
Chronically single, aggressively un-perfect, damaged Newt.
OR -
Thomas goes home with Newt for Christmas in the hope of helping him keep his prying family at bay. Shenanigans ensue.

FUCK I LOVE IT DOMESTIC NEWT AND THOMAS AND KID CHUCKKKK OHHH YOU HAD ME AT THE FIRST CHAPTER. Cried like twice while reading with made me fall even harder for them AUGHHH
I love teacher Newt and his soft spot for little kiddies and I love Thomas’s two alter egos “grumpy manager vs. Newt personality” AUGHHH I WOULD BE JUST AS DOWN BAD IF I WAS EITHER OF THEMMMM. Don’t get me started on that beautiful airport proposal or the cute dates they had together like I can’t this is so good 🫶😫
12/10 would re-read again if I lost all of my memories and just for the hell of it (cause I love them all the same either way). 100% recommend, this AU made me incredibly jealous of their relationship 😗

Oh I sobbed and this fic healed me from the anguish I felt from finishing the wretched Death Cure book. Sobbed my heart out from how tender and soft the words were written in my screen. Felt like getting stabbed in the back repeatedly while being embraced in the softest and warmest hug ever. 12/10 would recommend 😝🫶

AUGH I CANNOT BEGIN TO DESCRIBE HOW MUCH I LOVE THEM, THIS FIC AND MINALLY. AUGHHHHHH SAVE MEEEEE
I fell in love with how beautifully written all of the characters were and how they all exude such raw humanity within each of the paragraphs, NEWTMAS obviously take the cake with this; from all of their unsaid glances, touches and actions. Like I am so jealous of their ability to be so understanding and devoted to one another with the unsaid words in the movies and the books. I’m so glad that this fic exists cause it is activity healing me from the lack of NEWTMAS within the books and the deleted NEWTMAS scenes that didn’t make it into the movie.
I also wanted to talk about how beautifully written Gally’s and Minho’s relationship is?? Like the way they both practically ‘hated’ each other in the Glade but practically think about each other on the daily post-glade LIKE IM SICK. They way they both haunt each other because of the lack of having one another at their side… I will disintegrate. Minho feels guilty of both Chuck and Gally and it eats him alive. Whereas Gally feels guilty for Chuck and almost mournful from the fact that he felt like he deserved to die by Minho’s hand and wished that he “aimed for his heart” LIKE STOPPPP (cause it’s symbolic meaning besides the literal one is tweaking me out so bad). LIKE CAUSE you can read it as in ‘Gally felt bitter that Minho missed and didn’t land the final blow’ ORRRR the fact that in a way he ‘did’ as in he captured Gally’s heart and soul in a way like they’re tethered togetherrr (although I bet rn neither knows how much they mean to eachother).
UGHHHH MINALLY AND NEWTMAS MAKES ME SICKKK THEY BOTH HOLD THE UTMOST DEVOTION AND LOVE BETWEEN THEM AND HAVE UNDENIABLE CHEMISTRY WHICH I LOVE IS BEING SO BEAUTIFULLY EXPANDING UPON IN THIS FICCCC.
Like trust and believe, I will be watching and waiting for any and all future updates😋🫶. I will come CRAWLING BACK if I must 😗

RAHHH I WILL ALWAYS TWEAK OUT FROM THE FACT THAT THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH LONGING, HEARTACHE, AND SADNESS DESCRIBED WEN IT CAME TO THE FACT THAT NEWT WAS SUCCUMBING TO THE FLARREEEEE. Bruh like we got all the angst scenes where the whole trio would fight and argue, but your telling me that Thomas not once was pleading to Newt to not give? Or to stop arguing to the point his on his knees? ESPECIALLY CAUSE OF THE WAY THAT THOMAS WANTED TO ENTER THE MAZE BECAUSE OF NEWT IN THE FIRST PLACEEEEEE RAHHHHHHHHH. I CANNOT. I will always mourn the fact that Deat cure could have been a literary master piece and has the potential to out rank my favoritism of the the first book if it was a few more chapters longer :'[
