“What level of attire do you expect from your superior officers?” Rao asked Niles, standing in front of him in the main room of the ship. He was in full Protectorate down-time regalia, clutching a datapad like it held the kind of secrets that could bring down the entire corrupt organization.
Commander Bri Shepherd keeps things rather unprofessional around the ship, something her emotional support arbiter takes extreme umbrage with. Confronting him about it goes exactly as you would hope.

An easy mission gone wrong leaves the commander gravely injured, and with a snow storm blocking communications with the Incognito, Tristan alone has to keep his favorite ally alive.

When Te Fiti blooms again after the return of her heart, unbeknownst to everyone, those blooms include spores of Flower Sickness, and Moana carries the infection within her until her heart decides who she can't live without.

Luck and likeability are both valuable traits in a superior officer. A likeable superior is easy to follow; a lucky one won’t get you killed.

More important, however, is the ability to take charge and make hard decisions.
“I wouldn’t be so quick to denounce your authority, Commander. If you do, Arbiter Rao may feel he has a responsibility to no longer tolerate the continued presence of traitors and malefactors on this vessel- and I would prefer to avoid removing a familiar variable from the Equation unless absolutely necessary.”
Unfortunately for Commander Lane Perry, a surplus of the former is not an adequate substitute for an absence of the latter.

You see the body through the throne rooms doors. It looks like a marble statue. Bleach white and perfectly still where it lays at the foot of the King.
You're ten the day you meet your purpose. Another boy. The adopted son of the thing in the throne room. You will die for him. He looks at you with hate in his eyes the first time you're in the same room as him.
He tells you to run. He doesn't want you. He doesn't want to be the prince. He hates the King and misses the family he was taken from. He's scared. He doesn't want to kill you.
