  1. Summary

He was an abyss, drawing me in, and I was drowning in his presence, the danger of him, the scent of perfume and bourbon. Drowning in his obvious and complete confidence in himself, his assurance that I would do what I was about to do.

I sank to my knees before him.

  3. Summary

In one world, Fire Lord Ozai crowns himself the Phoenix King. He planned to rise supreme from the ashes of all he burned.

Fire Lord Sozin was known as the Dragon of Caldera for his might and the execution of his own dragon for betrayal.

Fire Lord Azulon was known as the Dragon of the South for his act in eliminating the Southern Waterbenders, as well as the dragon he killed on the eve of his twentieth birthday.

Crown Prince Iroh was known as the Dragon of the West for (allegedly) killing the last dragon remaining in the entire Fire Nation.

There were no dragons remaining for Prince Ozai. That being said, Ozai was far more a dragon than any of his family.

The throne of the Fire Nation was known as the Dragon Throne because of the fierceness with which dragons protected their brood and the Fire Lord protected their citizens.

In this world, Ozai is a dragon. He is fierce, and sharp, and fire. Above all else, he will protect his family.

    Summary

Telimezh woke in the dim twilight of a December afternoon, chilled from more than just the weather. He washed quickly, forced a mouthful of freezing water down his painfully dry throat, and stepped into the nohecharei's common area, avoiding eye contact with his new partner.

The memory of last night was still sharp in his mind—his mind that was, briefly, wholly his own again, the magical bond that had allowed Dazhis Athmaza to hear his thoughts (and, for those last miserable hours, he to hear Dazhis's in return) severed like a rotted limb cut off to save its owner's life.

In the oaths of the nohecharei to their partners is an ancient mazeise art that binds their thoughts together. With one such bond already broken, what does it mean for Telimezh to swear anew?

    Summary

A great number of Edreveise Revival historians owe a mighty debt indeed to the prolific correspondence of one woman: Csethiro Zhasan, wife of Edrehasivar VII Zhas. The 316th empress of the Ethuveraz was a prolific letter-writer, and her letters to her most regular correspondents — her four sisters, Emiro, Hesiriän, Iru and Saleheio; her close friend and sister in law, Vedero Drazhin; her husband, Edrehasivar VII; and later, her three children — are some of the most prominent primary sources about the court and the Drazhada in the early Edreveise Revival period.

    Summary

Esaran sees a boy whose new clothes suit him as badly as the Alcemereth itself, a boy with hunched shoulders and flatly pressed ears. She had seen pageboys and scullery maids like him, little beaten down things, and she’s always made sure to teach them to stand up straight and sure, for if they don’t have dignity for themselves, how can they show the dignity due to her court? But therein lies the trap: if she can train the Emperor, what Emperor is he? She might as well take the crown from him and declare herself Empress Esaran the First.
