They meet various people around alternia that may help or be to their detriment, but they're willing to take the risk because what else do they have to lose?
It felt by chance to meet these people, though it was meant to happen and later on they all would fear the war going on against aliens who are set on invading their planet, hoping to escape it through a game of sgrub.

Summary
It was, perhaps, unsurprising to say that Tenna had always looked forward to celebrating Christmas. Despite his love of the holiday, the general noise and excitement that surrounded it often meant Tenna found himself inundated the day of. All of that was to say, Tenna and Spamton had never celebrated Christmas together on the actual day.

“Yoshiki, look! Mincemeat cutlets!”
“What’re ya talking about?” Yoshiki squints against the blinding snow through his bangs. The snowfall is thin and wet. It’ll probably be gone by tomorrow, but the cold seeps into Yoshiki’s core. Winter has come early this year.
It’ll have been a year soon. So soon. Just a few more weeks.
Time refuses to stop, more of a monster than anything else Yoshiki has encountered.
Or: Yoshiki grapples with whether or not “Hikaru” has the autonomy to truly love him if his companionship is the result of fulfilling a wish.

Hizashi could kiss him. Already, he’s feeling more awake, just after a few sips. And sure, he had already wanted to kiss Shouta, had wanted to ever since Shouta had thoroughly kicked his ass at their first year sports festival. He’d fallen very swiftly and very inadvisably in love, which he’d channeled into an aggressive pursuit of friendship and vowed never to speak of.
That doesn’t mean he can’t still be grateful, though. He doesn’t have time to dwell on it, not with Aoki probably already waiting, so he settles for throwing, “You’re the best, Shou, thanks!” over his shoulder on his way out the door.
