“I’m having a bad dream,” he whispers. His eyes flutter shut and he can see it clearly: everyone huddled together drinking tiredly after a long day, grateful to be together, identical to the room they’re all in, but unlike the real party and Minseok’s real living room, behind his eyelids, Baekhyun knows something horrible is about to happen. He opens his eyes.
Junmyeon is looking at him more seriously now, still smiling because Junmyeon always smiles when he gets to learn new things about Baekhyun, but this smile is sharper, and Junmyeon’s eyes have an edge to them as if he’s assessing a situation. “You wanna tell me about it?” He asks, and his voice is a little deeper in his chest, rumbling underneath Baekhyun’s ear.

The lights dim on Jackson and his dancers squatting next to the big screen, and the purple and green lights give their forms halos, glowing in the dark. Jackson leans down and grabs one of the dancers by her ponytail and he moves her in his grip like a marionette, willing and beautiful, and Yixing’s mind goes staticy white. It’s a brilliant bit of choreography, Jackson gets dragged from her by another dancer behind him and she stretches on her legs like a threatened cat in front of him, but Yixing’s field of vision has grown so small and all he can focus on is the looping visual of Jackson’s nimble and sure hand pulling the dancer’s hair.
