Japp snapped his head back to Poirot with a wild look. “What?” he said, rather startled.
A little frown creased Poirot’s face. “They will not let me see him,” Poirot repeated.
“No, I got that part, it’s just—Sorry, old chap, did you say you were his husband?” Japp’s mind started working again, now that the surprise had faded, trying once again to solve one of the detective’s little riddles before Poirot spoiled the fun by revealing the answer.
