Yelena sat atop her nook, blowing her cigarette smoke out of the window. The sun was just kissing the horizon, the crisp fall air stinging her face. Yelena had never seen scenery so beautifully lush, so perfectly framed like the paintings donning her walls. If this moment could last forever, she wouldn’t move an inch, just to savor the sight.

But winter was on the horizon and he needed help if he was to make it through the cold months. What he certainly did not need was a handsome stranger, a cowboy no less, forcing himself into his life. To see him at his worst. But like he always said, God had a plan... but for once he wasn't sure this was the correct path to lead him to salvation.

Dennis clasps his hands together, bowing his head. He asks God for forgiveness for what he’s about to do, and for not praying as often as he should—for not going to church and for sleeping with men to not freeze to death in the winter.
“Whitaker?” He startles so hard he nearly falls off the edge. It’s Robby. “What are you doing here?”
“Just sitting.”
“How about you scoot back a little? Sit behind the railing instead. It’s there for a reason, you know.” There’s something careful in his voice. Dennis hates that. Robby should still be angry with him, he should be screaming and cursing.
