    Summary

"Excuse me," she's saying, wide grin plastered on with far too much ferocity. So this is his stalker? Hm. Not quite. "I think the complex totally mixed up our packages, I got one with your apartment number on it. Haha, how silly, right?" Ah, yes, that does explain the arm hidden behind her back. Concealing a potential weapon and aiding her alibi; though paper-thin, she must have thought this through, but for what? "May I come in?"

"Thank you, but there's no need for that." L holds out his hand, ignoring Ryuk’s steadily-rising cackles. Even if his suspicions are right, he cannot risk confirming hers.

She is the second Kira. Her reckless introduction had already proven as such—

"And besides, L Lawliet, I don't think you'd want what I know getting out, do you?"

Misa's becoming of the Second Kira.

When Assistant Director Ronan reveals Grand Admiral Thrawn has personally blocked Commodore Karyn's Faro's reassignment, it raises more than a few questions about her superior's motivations, her own naïveté, and her future aboard the Chimaera.

    Summary

Lawliet Wycliffe, barrister, prodigy, and unwitting professional breaker of hearts, has survived cross-examinations, hostile witnesses, and three separate assassination attempts from disgruntled clients. He speaks fourteen languages fluently, but that one moment he opens his mouth in his own mother tongue, forty-eight million people demand his public execution.

In his defence, he doesn’t realise that an actress with a glitter budget capable of funding a small nation can so effortlessly turn him into a viral punching bag. In her defence, she has absolutely no idea that the strange man correcting her Latin isn’t a lunatic, but a barrister with a reputation for intellectual homicide.

But what happens when these two people decide, for mutual benefit, to meet face to face? Can they survive the sparks without singeing the entire city? Will his razor-sharp logic slice through her glittering chaos, or will her chaos pull apart the carefully constructed world he’s built?

Either way… someone’s going to end up trending.

    Summary

A known collector visits Galactic Antiquities and Objects of Interest. Kleya Marki wonders if it is coincidence, a deliberate snare, or a golden opportunity. Two of these turn out to be true.

It took every ounce of restraint to not show the surprise, the burst of incredulous laughter at his audacity. “It is a large galaxy,” she said, echoing herself from earlier. “Rumors have a great deal of room to travel. And exaggerate.”

“I find they are not as exaggerated as one might think,” Thrawn replied. “Especially with the promise of your discretion.”

She considered him. He was asking for a black-market piece without even a hint of subtlety, and that meant he was either assured of her compliance or was laying a careful trap. Perhaps both.

“And if I were to have discretion?” she asked.

He paused, his gaze sweeping over her, a silent, meticulous inventory that summarized, itemized, and neatly footnoted her before she could bristle at the implied assessment. A flicker of satisfied intellectual curiosity softened the hard line of his mouth. “I am confident,” he said, “that we will find much to discuss.”

    Summary

On the long-forgotten world of Urvash, Kleya Marki hunts for a lost superweapon. An Imperial genius and his aide seek a piece of forgotten art. To win this deadly game and turn the tide for the fledgling Rebellion, Kleya must not only find the prize, but learn to master the art of her opponent.

(Indiana Jones, but make it Star Wars)

    ---

She stepped closer, already composing the report she’d send to Luthen. The Astrolabe was real, and she would bet her last ration pack it was here. She’d prove her worth, put the last mission’s errors behind her.

    A faint sound, from behind.

Kleya froze. That wasn't a rock settling.

She thumbed the memory globe, just in case, but did not turn around. Not yet.

“Hands up where we can see them,” called a voice. Male, Outer Rim accent of some voice. “Nice and slow.” The voice echoed in the chamber, making it hard for her to tell how far away he was. She mentally tallied her weapons: a vibro-shiv strapped to her thigh, a blaster at her hip, her tiny holdout hidden in a shoulder holster under her jacket, and her last-resort knife in her boot. All of them utterly useless with a range sight on her back.
