"I know I begged you to try things out with him," Felicia says, quiet. "I really did think you'd do well together. I thought you'd fall for each other. That we'd be this perfect constellation, just us four, growing old together." She shrugs, following his gaze over to Silco, who is smiling up at Powder, a tiny, sweet thing that Vander has only ever seen directed at Felicia and the girls. It makes his stomach flip sometimes, when he catches it out of the corner of his eye.

Silco and Vander have a contentious relationship. They won't admit (out loud) to the spark of attraction between them, and have sworn each other off after one disastrous date. 15 years later, they still can't get along for anything in the world, not even their best friends' growing family.
When Felicia and Connol unexpectedly pass and leave Violet and Powder in their care, Silco and Vander have to decide if they can put their differences to the side and give their new charges a safe and happy home. They find out along the way exactly why Felicia and Connol tried so hard to get them together all those years ago.
