Summary
It’s been four years since Koby’s joined the Marines, and two years since one of the greatest power struggles in the world took place between pirates and the government. More importantly, two years since Straw-Hat Luffy became the Pirate King.
Personally, life’s been great for Koby ever since he joined. He’s climbed the ranks at record speed, ultimately obtaining the rank of a Rear-Admiral. His life-long dream of being Fleet Admiral is in sight, and it seems that everything is finally working out for him.
Until a certain pirate that Koby happens to have a major crush on comes flying into his window and asks to kidnap him. Trust a pirate to show up out of the blue and successfully ruin Koby’s life for the better. Again.In which Koby has to join the Straw-Hat pirates in order to bring down a child trafficking ring, all while being hopelessly in love with a pirate. The typical stuff, really.

She barely has a moment to catch her breath when a flash of red collides with her and a pair of rubbery arms wraps around her, looping wildly.
“Yes! Vivi’s gonna be a pirate with us!”
“It’s great to have you, Vivi!” shouts Usopp. “Also, the Navy is shooting at us!”
“Oh, shit!”
They scramble into position, pulling the sails and moving the cannon, Vivi falling into the familiar pattern alongside the rest of them. There is no time for celebration, no time for regrets – There are cannonballs flying, screaming wind and the shouts of the crew, and no time to mourn a now-dead girl. By the time she has a chance to look back, Alabasta is gone from the horizon, and maybe it’s better this way.
Or: Nefertari Vivi makes the selfish choice.

And a part of Buggy wants to say yes, because for all his yells and complaints, he loves Shanks, loves this boy who he grew up with, this stupid red head who became his brother.
He loves him, but he isn't blind to his faults, to the fear and desperation and anger in his brother's eyes. There's something possessive in the way he grabs Buggy, possessive like Captain, possessive like I-chose-you-my-friend-my-crewmate-mine-
And Buggy loves Shanks, but he doesn't want that.

“I've decided!” the pirate exclaimed loudly, and Coby almost flinched, the volume hurting his ears. Almost afraid of the answer, he still asked his new friend with what he deemed was appropriate wariness.
“Decided what, exactly?”
Luffy shoved a piece of meat in his mouth and closed his eyes, as if all his questions and troubles had suddenly disappeared.
“I'm in love with you.” he announced, completely serious and sincere. Next to him, Zoro choked on air.
Coby blinked. “Oh.”
And then his brain registered what was said, and he let out a shriek.
