When he was thirteen, he dreamed of Jason Grace for the first time. It was vivid unlike much of anything he’d ever dreamed before, and it terrified him. He didn’t have to feel the sting of rejection the next morning when he woke up in the underworld, but it felt like there was a wound on his heart nonetheless.
The dreams didn't go away — he dreamed of Jason the night he and Percy disappeared. He dreamed of Jason the night he turned up at Camp Half-Blood, memories noticeably missing. He dreamed of Jason in Tartarus, in restless bouts of sleep.
He dreamed of him holding him close, whispering sweet nothings into his ear. He dreamed of him kissing him passionately, in the middle of the arena where anyone could see, unashamed. He dreamed of things Jason would never do, things Jason would never say, even in his dreams. He dreamed of Jason Grace, but it was obvious Jason Grace didn’t dream of him.
