Summary
Healer Potter can heal injuries that no one else can and gets a new patient in his specialized ward at St. Mungo's. It's clear from the start that this patient is broken, with injuries and abuse dating years. But Harry is surprised to discover that the patient is Draco Malfoy. For the next three months, Harry has to heal his injuries from an apparent suicide attempt, but soon he realizes that it's deeper than that.
Draco is fresh out of Azkaban and Harry knows that the guards must have viciously tortured him, but Draco isn't talking about it. He's set up to stay in the Mental Health ward permanently if Harry doesn't heal him physically and mentally. At the same time, Harry isn't the righteous force of anger and courage that he once was. He quit the Aurors and suffers from extreme social anxiety, panic attacks and PTSD attacks, though it's not from war. Harry has to deal with his problems, too, but maybe not alone anymore as Draco is there to recover with him.
Trigger warning - discussions about sexual assaults, associated terminology and abuse. Panic attacks and some sleeping, eating and drinking disorders.
This is a story of recovery from severe emotional distress on both their parts.

Look, I don’t know why I’m writing this. Or maybe I do, but I don’t really want to think about it too hard.
You probably won’t read this. You’ll toss it aside, scoff, or maybe just pretend it doesn’t exist at all. That’s fine. I wouldn’t blame you. I wouldn’t read a letter from me either.
I just—
I’ve been thinking about the trial. About how everything ended. About how some people got second chances, and some didn’t. And about you.
We spent years hating each other, didn’t we? Years trying to tear each other down. But when it really counted, when things actually mattered, we weren’t standing on opposite sides anymore. And I keep wondering if things could’ve been different. If we could’ve been different.
I don’t know. Maybe this is stupid. Maybe I just don’t like the idea of you sitting in that cell, thinking no one remembers you. Or maybe I just don’t like leaving things unfinished.
You don’t have to write back. But if you do… I’ll read it.

With Draco managing to resist the temptation to drain him, just barely, in a moment of blind rage at what he has been forced to become, he aids Harry in the destruction of Voldemort. But even with that threat vanquished, once back at Hogwarts, Draco finds himself disturbingly addicted to Harry’s blood. And amongst all this, a dark shadow looms ominously on the outline of the forest, watching them closely. A vampire!Draco story and also an ‘Eighth year’ story.
