"Why haven't I seen you in this?"
Ashur catches the apron as it slides off his nose. "It was a joke."
"And we're missing the punchline. Put it on."
Ashur sighs and pulls the straps over his head. The lace hangs over his leathers.
"Not like that," Tarquin groans, shoving Ashur into the bedroom. "I can't even see the cute snake detail. Take the Viper off, then put it on."
Tarquin finds a lace apron in Ashur's closet.

"My friends say you're so into me..." - Britney Spears
"Bets in!" Marisa calls, swinging around the corner and catching the wall with a hand to steady herself. "Get your bets in!"
Maevaris is on her feet immediately. "What are they doing?"
"Sparring on the roof," Marisa replies.
Everyone knows. Everyone except them.

Summary
Tarquin stood up from the desk, picked up the stack of ledgers and carried them to Ashur, who was bent over a map of the tunnels, charcoal stick in hand. "Get Marisa to look them over," he said, dropping the books right in front of him. "Make sure I haven't fudged the numbers."
Ashur straightened. "The team said you were clean."
"Well, if the team says so."
Ashur has Tarquin investigated. Tarquin is understandably pissed about it.

Summary
The battered door to the Lamplighter is open when he walks past. Orange lamplight and laughter pour out into the street. There's time to kill so Tarquin enters, parks himself on a seat by the bar and orders the dockside special—two fingers of the cheapest whiskey, topped off with the cheapest ale. It comes with a slab of bread fried in bacon fat and drizzled with honey.
It's too delicious to be any good for him, but regret is tomorrow's problem.
He survived the apocalypse, but his flat didn't. The world's fine, but life still sucks, and now he doesn't even have a bed.

Summary
Modern/Mundane AU in which the Shadow Dragons are a volunteer lifeboat crew in the busy fishing village of Dock Town on the island state of Minrathous. Tarquin and Ashur are frequently thrown in life and death situations together and then go back to their day jobs like nothing happened. In real life, they’re a world apart – Ashur the local vicar and councillor and Tarquin a bitter ex-soldier pulling pints in a pub – but when they’re at sea, they’re equals.
When the crew lose a young life out at sea, Tarquin distances himself from the others, shouldering the blame for the kid’s death, but Ashur won’t let him carry the burden alone.

Summary
“So lemme get this straight,” Tarquin says as he carefully rounds the corner of the big black desk in the bedchamber at the Divine’s Manor. “When you called for me because of a ‘situation’, this is what you meant?”
Tarquin stares at the exact copy of Ashur that’s currently following Tarquin’s path, walking after him without breaking eye contact.
