Yu Ziyuan watches over her son. She knows this is it. Wei Wuxian may have had a drop more of filial piety than she thought him capable of (which was none at all), but that child was selfish before he was even arrogant. He would never risk his own lowly life for the sake of one of his betters.
Except that Wei Wuxian does come. With a Wen traitor in his tail, he comes back and gets her son. He even—he even fights to get their bodies back, Jiang Fengmian’s, and Yu Ziyuan’s as well. It’s too risky, insane even, and both conscious boys come to agree that they cannot manage it.
But the little beast came back, and he tried… he tried to save her, too.
