Erik, like many of the common people, had little to no formal education at first. When he was a child, his mother told him he was blessed by God for being born an alpha, but she couldn't say why.
But Erik wasn't blessed. He was born a peasant, with neglecting parents who as soon as he managed to grab a shovel, started to make him work under the hot sun.
One day, Erik asked Ištván what being blessed meant. By the time the boy was still learning how to read, but wasn't confident enough to read something on his own, so Ištván helps him.
