Summary
When you take a step to the left, the world is a little different, new.
On this step left and to the back, our souls are outside, Daemons.
In many ways, for Evan Buckley, this is worse, but in many others, it's better.

Summary
“What's so weird about Buck’s daemon being a dog? She’s not the only dog here.”
Hen shrugs, then her eyes flick upwards, landing on where Breya is lounging in the rafters above his head, a foreleg swinging back and forth. “She walked right up to you all on her own.”
“To glare at me.” She waves that off like it hadn't set the tone for the whole day.
“You were a stranger, they’re protective. They’re not too great with meeting people who stick around. But that's what I'm getting at. I’ve never met a daemon like her.”

Summary
After the tsunami, Buck moves in with Eddie, determined to help Christopher through the nightmares that follow. Somewhere between midnight talks and quiet mornings, they cross the line from friendship to something else—but Buck learns too late that they’re not on the same page.
One heated argument about what they are, combined with Buck’s discrimination complaint against the LAFD, shatters the fragile thing they’d built. Now they’re not speaking, and Buck’s left wondering if he’s lost Eddie for good.
But when life-altering news drops into his lap, Buck is forced to decide—will he reach for Eddie, or let the distance between them become permanent?

Summary
So this… thing with the firefighter from the 118… he didn’t want it. He wanted nothing to do with it. If he could be on the other side of the world from it, he would have gone there yesterday. If they ignored it, stopped whatever activity fed the thing, Eddie was sure it would just go away.
Or,
Instead of joining the 118, Eddie winds up in the 124th. Him and Buck end up together anyway.
