While not from a noble standing, the Eriksson family seems genuine and warm and exactly the type of people Wilhelm needs to surround himself with. He’s in good hands. Wilhelm is the happiest he’s been since he was a blissfully ignorant toddler, and he decides he doesn’t have it in his heart to take this away from Wilhelm.
Or, Ludvig watches Wilhelm interact with Simon and his family and realizes he hasn't been the father he should've been.
